Grandpa Friend™:

– almost always grumpy
– bad at showing affection but cares about their friends a lot
– “what did you say?”, “Sorry i didn’t hear that, can you repeat it?”
– often reminisces about their youth (even though they’re probably only in their twenties. Alternatively: “kids these days…”)
– too old for this shit (see above)
– totally not down with the youth
– bad back (and everything else hurts too)
– likes to complain

… don’t call me out like this

Okay but counterproposal – the Grandma Friend.

– Thinks feeding you is the solution to any problem.
– Is harder to shock than you think they are.
– Appear sweet and innocent on the outside but has surprisingly raunchy stories.
– Has so many photo albums. So many.
– Hates throwing things away because they might need them again one day.
– I cannot over-emphasize how often this friend will try to give you food.
– You’re not sure if they’re hard of hearing or just politely ignoring you. Possibly both.
– Out of touch with youth culture.
– “I don’t mean to complain, but…”
– A really great listener, but also a memory like a bear trap. Will keep your secrets forever, but they will never forget the thing you told them that one time.

I’m just SO weirded out that THIS is the thing that tipped it and I’m seeing the biggest wave of support for trans people I’ve ever seen, and I’m not saying people aren’t allowed to be mad about it, it’s a very nuanced issues but man wtf where is this outpouring of support coming from? where was this during bathroom bills or other bills meant to strip us of our freedoms, idk I’m very like, confused.

We can die for them but having the right to live is out of the question

Many people, encountering fanfiction for the first time, wonder why so much of it is erotic. Anne Jamison, in Fic, gives a pretty good answer: a lot of fanfiction questions mainstream assumptions about gender, sexuality, and desire. But writing erotic fanfiction is also a wonderful game. The fanfiction community might be the first place where a woman is encouraged to enjoy her sexual fantasies and praised for the dirtiness of her imagination. Writing and reading fanfiction is a social, communal activity, and considering how much shame is still attached to the expression of female sexual desire (what’s so funny about it?) the creation of shared erotic fantasies is still radical.

this is a pretty good summary of what Amsterdam is like

THERE IS SO MUCH GOING ON IN THIS VIDEO WHAT WAS UP WITH THE GUY RUNNING AT THE VERY BEGINNING AND THE ONE CAR HIP-CHECKING THE OTHER INTO A WATERY OBLIVION AND THE SPEEDBOAT AND AAAAAAAAAAAH

And then they destroy the stoop on that building, and just drive off???

did any of y’all see the motorcycle on the sidewalk in the other building

oh my god and the two pedestrians huddling on the very edge of the canal to avoid getting hit by the motorcycle

Saw folks in the notes saying this was from the filming of The Hitman’s Bodyguard, and sure enough

Well how about that.
