Totally forgetting of course that his PTSD started in Iron Man 1 when he was attacked and very badly injured, witnessed a bunch of young soldiers he’d just befriended die, (by weapons his company created no less), was kidnapped, spent three months living in fear and being tortured while forced to live in a deep, dark, dank cave (probably with inadequate food, inadequate water, inadequate sleeping arrangements and inadequate bathroom/toilet arrangements, where it was also probably damp and cold which is not healthy), watched a man he befriended during those months die, had to fight his way out in a suit he built out of scraps WHILE all the fear was hanging over his head. He then returned home only to discover his father figure had betrayed him, then AGAIN WHILE BEING TORTURED discovered the man had not only betrayed him but had also ordered his death. And then he had to fight and kill said father figure.
And also, lets not forget Iron Man 2! Where the slapdash solution he created in IM1 for the life threatening injury he’d received, was actively killing him and he expected to die at any time. And while dying, faced nothing but condemnation and bitching from the people around him. And then of course, also while dying, had to fight a guy who’d replicated his work and used it to do exactly what he’d promised no one would ever do with his work.
So, y’know. Tony has been through a lot of shit and developed PTSD long before The Avengers and what transpired therein. And really, it’s just getting worse.
If this were a real man, rather than a character in a film franchise, he’d either have been committed for his own safety, or be fucking dead of suicide by this point. AND YET.
